Numerous employment statutes, such as the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, N.J.S.A. 10:5-1 et seq. Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, 42 U.S.C. ยง 2000e-2(a), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disability Act, and the New Jersey Worker=s Compensation Statute, N.J.S.A. 34:15-1 et seq., OSHA regulations, etc. have separate provisions that provide for a retaliation claim if the employee has a reasonable belief that he/she is subject to the protections of the statute, alleges a violation of the statute, and is then subjected to a retaliatory adverse action by the employer.
